Mountain Warrior Academy of Martial Arts can accommodate all of your traditional and modern sport karate needs. We offer karate classes starting as early as age 3.

Little Warriors (3-6 yrs) - This class is an energetic and creative class geared to capture the attention of the younger students.  We use games, obstacle courses, and humor to teach basic karate techniques and Japanese vocabulary. It is amazing what these kids learn while playing games! This class is very physical and hands on promoting respect, discipline, and good choices in a fun and safe environment.

Kids Class (6-12 yrs) - This class focuses on traditional forms (kata), basic self defense, traditional weapons, and competitive style point sparring.  The belt promotions in this class include more rankings than our adult class to ensure that the students progression in class is being rewarded more often than that of an adult student. This promotes positive self esteem and helps keeps student goal oriented and rewarded for their efforts and accomplishments.

This class offers a strong emphasis on respect of self and others, discipline, and self esteem. The physical aspect of this class as well as martial arts in general provides students with a great workout and keeps students active.  We promote a healthy lifestyle both mentally and physically in hopes of students making good life decisions both mentally and physically.

Adult Class (13 and up) - This class dives into the very heart and sole of karate! With teachings in traditional forms (kata), basic and advanced self defense, a wide variety of weapons training, and competitive style point sparring. This class is unique in its ability to cater towards the very new and well experienced students. This class is a great way to release the stresses of the day! It promotes good physical activity, increased mobility, and awareness while learning a valuable life skill.

Classes are offered in both private and group settings.

Check out the Cardio Karate to see how you can kick and punch your way to a healthier heart while learning basic karate techniques.

Traditional Karate:
Focus on the history of the art/style, forms (kata), traditional techniques, kumite (one-two-three step sparring drills), controlled breathing, mental development, and inner strength development.

Modern Sport Karate:
While slightly different than traditional karate as a whole modern sport karate incorporates some level of traditional training and level of self defense while focusing on tournament style techniques such as high kicks and point sparring combinations to give competitors the edge. Modern sport karate gives traditional karate a stylish and flashy flare!

Modern sport karate is also a great platform to test your skills in the ring and see how your skills are working and what you may need to improve on in a safe and controlled environment.

Self Defense:
This training encompasses your attitude and commitment to effectively defend yourself.  Learn viable and disabling striking points/targets, pressure points, timing for your counter attack, breaking holds from your attacker, disabling techniques, and in general the "nitty gritty" personal survival applications of being attacked.
